Herman Hertzberger

One of the most important Dutch architects and theoreticians of the modern age, Hertzberger has built many school buildings during his long career, including the Montessori School in Delft (1966, expanded repeatedly), the Apollo (1983) and De Evenaar (1986) schools in Amsterdam, Polygoon in Almere (1992) and the Anne Frank school in Papendrecht (1994). Hertzberger has written several books, including Lessons for Students in Architecture (1991), Space and the Architect: Lessons in Architecture 2 (1999) and Space and Learning (2008).
